School Houses

In February 2016 we launched our new House system as a way of enhancing friendly competition and to strengthen the positive culture of the school.

All students have now been placed in one of the four houses, named after Maori gods: Tangaroa (God of the oceans, lakes and rivers - Blue House); Tane Mahuta (God of the forests and birds - Green House); Ruaumoko (God of earthquakes and lava - Orange House); Tawhirimatea (God of wind and storms - Purple House).

The swimming sports held on 25 and 26 February were the first competition between the houses.  House results from the swimming sports are as follows:

Tawhirimatea (Purple):  1738

Ruaumoko (Orange):     1311

Tangaroa (Blue):            1160

Tane Mahuta (Green):    1076

Our school cross country event was held on 17 May.  House results from the cross country are as follows:

Tawhirimatea (Purple):  1,779

Ruaumoko (Orange):     1,648

Tane Mahuta (Green):   1,480

Tangaroa (Blue):           1,423

Nga Rangatahi (Modern Youth)

Our exciting new modern learning environment for Year 7 and 8s has started with its foundation students. The classroom is designed for flexible teaching and learning; being an open space with withdrawal rooms and movable furniture.  The teaching philosophy will have a strong digital learning focus with the school providing one iPad, laptop or Note Pad per student.
